Got a glut of apples, or bought too many, or been scrumpying? Then makes this!
Apple butter is simply 2.5kg of apples peeled. cored and chopped and mixed with 60g of any mixed sugars (but brown is best), and 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2tsp each of cloves, nutmeg, salt and ginger. Then slow cook in oven or slow cooker for 10-12 hrs until apples are super soft and mixture is a deep deep brown paste. Then blend. And blend again. You want a super soft butter.
Pour into sterile jars (I put recycled jars through the dishwasher).
