Candied orange slices with orange syrup perfect for an accompanying Orange Vodka Martini.

Made from an old orange and a mandarin and couldn't be simpler.

Slice them into coin thick slices, discarding the yucky bits and the ends

Add equal amounts of sugar and water to a pan (about two cups of each) (I also add a good splosh of an orange liquer but you don't have to) and then drop in the orange slices and simmer rapidly for 20-30 minutes until the skins are tender - but not so long that the fruit starts to fall apart (like I did) - still tastes nice though!

When ready, leave to completly cool - BUT don't throw that syrup away - it'll keep for months in the fridge (or maybe not once you've made and tasted an Orange Vodka Martini - 1 part of each vodka, orange liquer, orange juice, orange syrup - shake ove ice and serve.)
